Dried Edible Flowers – Natural Culinary Flowers from BloomyBliss

Bring colour, aroma, and a botanical touch to your food and drinks with dried edible flowers from BloomyBliss.

Dried edible flowers can be used to decorate desserts, prepare floral teas, garnish dishes, create infused drinks, and add a beautiful natural element to special occasions.

At BloomyBliss, our journey with flowers began on our farm, where we experimented with different varieties and learned how to grow, harvest, preserve, and use flowers in different ways. Our dried flower journey began when our first harvest coincided with the COVID period, making it difficult to sell our flowers fresh. We started drying the harvest instead—and that experiment eventually became an important part of BloomyBliss.

Today, we continue exploring the many ways flowers can move from farm to home, kitchen, craft table, and everyday life.

What Are Dried Edible Flowers?

Dried edible flowers are flowers or flower parts that have been appropriately processed and dried for culinary use.

Unlike decorative dried flowers, edible flowers must be specifically grown, handled, processed, and labelled for food use.

Not every dried flower is edible. Flowers intended for decoration, crafts, resin art, or other non-food applications should never automatically be used in food.

That distinction is important when choosing edible flowers for your kitchen.

How Can You Use Dried Edible Flowers?

Dried edible flowers can be surprisingly versatile.

Depending on the flower and its intended culinary use, you can use them for:

  • Herbal teas
  • Cake and dessert decoration
  • Cookies and pastries
  • Salads
  • Floral drink blends
  • Infused water
  • Smoothies
  • Garnishing
  • Homemade spice and herb blends
  • Special occasion food presentation

A small amount can add a beautiful botanical detail without overwhelming the dish.

Dried Edible Flowers for Tea

Flowers have been used in traditional food and beverage cultures for generations.

Today, dried flowers such as chamomile, hibiscus, rose, lavender, and calendula are commonly used in herbal infusions and floral tea blends.

Simply adding a few suitable dried flowers to a tea blend can create an attractive colour and floral aroma.

You can also combine edible flowers with ingredients such as:

  • Green tea
  • Black tea
  • Mint
  • Lemongrass
  • Cinnamon
  • Ginger
  • Other culinary herbs

Always check the recommended culinary use of the particular flower before consuming it.

Dried Edible Flowers for Cakes & Desserts

Dried edible flowers can turn a simple dessert into something visually special.

Use suitable edible flowers to decorate:

  • Cakes
  • Cupcakes
  • Cookies
  • Brownies
  • Cheesecakes
  • Puddings
  • Chocolates
  • Dessert plates

Small petals can also be sprinkled over icing or used to create delicate botanical patterns.

For cakes and desserts, choose flowers specifically sold as food-safe or edible rather than decorative dried flowers.

Dried Edible Flowers for Drinks

Create beautiful floral drinks by adding suitable edible flowers to your favourite beverages.

They can be used in:

  • Herbal tea
  • Floral infusions
  • Lemon water
  • Mocktails
  • Smoothies
  • Iced tea
  • Special occasion drinks

Some flowers naturally release colour into water, while others mainly contribute visual appeal and aroma.

Dried Edible Flowers for Food Decoration

You don’t need complicated recipes to use edible flowers.

Sometimes the simplest use is the most beautiful.

Add a few petals to a finished dish or serving plate to create a natural presentation.

Edible flowers can be used for:

  • Salads
  • Desserts
  • Breakfast bowls
  • Cheese boards
  • Special occasion plates
  • Wedding and celebration menus

They are particularly useful when you want food presentation to feel natural, elegant, and handmade.

Popular Dried Edible Flowers

Depending on seasonal availability and product specifications, edible flower varieties may include:

Rose

Rose petals are widely used in culinary preparations and floral infusions. Their delicate aroma makes them particularly popular in desserts and beverages.

Chamomile

Chamomile flowers are commonly used to prepare herbal infusions and are valued for their mild floral character.

Hibiscus

Hibiscus is known for its vibrant colour and tart flavour and is commonly used in herbal beverages and infusions.

Lavender

Culinary lavender can be used in selected teas, desserts, and baking recipes. Its flavour is strong, so a small quantity can go a long way.

Marigold

Certain marigold varieties can be used as edible petals for culinary decoration and preparations. Always confirm the variety and food-use suitability before consuming.

Calendula

Calendula petals can add colour to salads, dishes, and culinary preparations when sourced specifically for edible use.

Cornflower

Edible cornflower petals are often used as a colourful garnish for desserts, drinks, and special food presentations.

From BloomyBliss Farm to Your Kitchen

Our edible flower story is connected to the larger BloomyBliss farm journey.

When we started our farm, we didn’t know exactly which flowers would work best on our land.

We experimented.

We planted different varieties, observed how they grew, learned from failures, and eventually harvested our first flower crops.

Then COVID arrived.

Our fresh flowers could not be sold and distributed as we had originally planned. Instead of giving up on the harvest, we began experimenting with drying.

What started as a way to preserve our flowers became a completely new journey.

We discovered that flowers could have many lives after blooming.

Some became decorative dried flowers. Some became craft materials. Some became pressed flowers. And suitable varieties could also become part of culinary and floral traditions.

That is how the BloomyBliss dried flower journey began.

How to Store Dried Edible Flowers

Proper storage helps maintain the quality of dried edible flowers.

  • Keep them in a clean, dry container.
  • Protect them from moisture and humidity.
  • Store away from direct sunlight.
  • Keep the container properly sealed.
  • Avoid introducing moisture into the package.
  • Follow the storage instructions provided with the individual product.

Always check the product’s best-before or storage information before use.

Are All Dried Flowers Edible?

No.

This is one of the most important things to understand.

A flower being natural does not automatically make it safe to eat.

Flowers sold for decoration, crafts, resin art, potpourri, or other non-food purposes may have been grown or processed differently and should not be consumed.

Only use flowers specifically identified and sold for culinary or edible use.

Are Dried Edible Flowers Organic?

If a product is certified organic, the relevant certification should be stated on the individual product page.

We recommend avoiding blanket claims such as “100% organic” across the entire collection unless the specific product meets the applicable organic certification requirements.

This makes the page more accurate and builds greater customer trust.
