have a blissful gardening with Daisies
Daisies are some of the most beautiful flowers in the floral world appealing to the eyes. Daisies are used both for gifting and growing in home or gardens. These are mostly grown up in North and Central Europe. The origin of the word Daisy is the Anglo Saxon “daes eage” which literally mean “day’s eye”. It was called this because daisies open at dawn and closes at dusk. A Daisy signifies innocence, purity and new beginnings. The meaning of Daisy is “loyal love”and “I will never tell”. There are different varieties of Daisies but the most popular varieties are, the Shasta Daisy and African Daisy. The Daisy flowers are visited by many small insects. The leaves of Daisy are edible and can be used in salads. A Daisy flower is of white petals and a yellow centre, although like other flowers, it can sometimes have a pink or rose colour. The stems of Daisies are smooth and do not have leaves. Daisy plants have 3 – 4 inch flower stalks. The Daisy leaves may be smooth or hairy, narrow at the base. In cold-weather regions, provide a thick layer of mulch for winter protection to the plant.
