This bushy plant with around 20 to 30 species, have a long flowering period and the colors range from orange, yellow, gold, cream to apricot. Marigold is among the very popular flowers commonly used to religions, social functions, and also in making garlands. The leaves of this plant are edible, with the petals added to dishes as a garnish and in lieu of saffron. The extract of its leaves and flowers can also be used to treat cuts, boils and as a sunscreen.
